Week 6 - "Maybellene" by Chuck Berry

How Chuck Berry Became the Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Artist of a Generation

This week, my blog post is on the song "Maybellene" by Chuck Berry. After listening to this song for the first time, I was put in a much better mood than before. It is so fun to listen to, and seems like a really good dance song. I can imagine groups of people having the best time dancing to this fast-tempo song. I love the bluesy notes and "sliding" notes; the lyrics are also humorous and witty.

The song is also talking about a few cars, and I enjoyed that because I kind of enjoy cars. It mentions Maybellene's Cadillac, and Chuck Berry's V8 Ford. He talks about how Maybellene is driving real fast, just to be "bumper to bumper" and "side by side" with Berry. This song is considered to be the one song that made Chuck Berry especially famous. After doing some reflecting on the song after listening to it for the 3rd time, I remembered that this song was targeted toward a younger audience. I most definitely agree with that, because, like I said before, it's a "fun" song, and makes you want to dance! If I had to listen to this song on repeat, I'd be just fine with that. I enjoy listening to Chuck Berry; one of my favorites of his is "Johnny B. Goode." It also happens to be in the movie "Back to the Future!" ... A classic!

  1. I have also found myself liking this song unexpectedly. I had never heard this song until this class but I really enjoyed it. I can also picot a group of people dancing to this song and if I was born at this time I would honestly be too. I also did not realize the Johnny B. Goode was one of his songs because I loved that song.
